Sometimes a great weekend get away is needed more than you know. We wanted to go somewhere to reconnect and recharge without too much travel outside of the city. I had read about Butter Milk Falls Inn & Spa and it's been on my radar for awhile. Apple and pumpkin picking was on our "to-do" list for the Fall so we decided to make a weekend of it. Lucky for us "Fall" lasted well in to The holiday season, with temps of 60 degrees in December.
The Inn is a short drive from Manhattan. An easy trip after a busy workday, we were there in time for dinner. Dinner at Henry's at the Farm (the onsite restaurant) was so enjoyable that we decided to dine there both nights.
We stayed in the Grand Laurel Suite. A spacious room with fireplace and soaking tub. The room was perfect for reading in bed, watching movies and enjoying a relaxing weekend.
The first morning we were there I woke up to rain & fog. I decided to ditch working out. We slept in and were able to grab breakfast right before they cleaned up for the morning. I had booked us massages when I made our reservation (which I highly recommend doing as the spa books up quick). The spa house has an enclosed heated pool that looks over the property so we floated around for a bit taking in the morning.
We wanted to get back in time for afternoon tea so we set out for a little adventure around town. The area around Buttermilk is filled with road side farm stands, wineries and pumpkin patches. We drove around for some exploring, apple picking and photos. You can definitely make a day of it. There is a farm store not too far from the property that has turkey & tuna sandwiches for $1.00. I suggest going there in the morning to grab some sandwiches to pack along for the day.
Overall our time at Buttermilk gave us exactly what we were looking for - Peace and Quiet. We shut off our phones, unplugged from city life for a weekend and got to spend some quality time together. We definitely are looking forward to a return trip in the Spring.
Afternoon tea included
Farm to Table Restaurant with a great cocktail list
On site spa/pool
Mill Stone farm is on the property. Guests can explore the aviary house, barn with livestock (lots of llamas) and kitchen garden. If you're allergic to bees bring your Epi-Pen as there are beehives & apiary.
They have plenty of events so make sure to check the webpage calendar to see what's going on.
Gorgeous well kept property and grounds - if it wasn't so "wet" in the morning while we were there we would have spent much more time outside.
Short Drive from NYC & NJ making this the perfect weekend trip
