Nike's "Kids Rock!" fashion event proved to be the fun of NY Fashion Week. The show coinciding with NBA All-Star week drew many athletes and celebrities. However, it wasn't the basketball players that were the stars of this runway show - it was their children. Children of Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire, and CC Sabathia all took to the runway.
This years event partnered with The Carmelo Anthony Foundation. The foundation is a nonprofit organization that gives back to those living in under-served communities.
The star of the show was Leah Still, the daughter of Cincinnati Bengals player Devon Still. Her father was first row wearing matching plaid and denim, cheering her on. Leah has been battling cancer and recently underwent chemotherapy treatment. Seeing her "rock" the runway brought a smile to many in the crowd.
This show was the most fun I had at Fashion Week. It was laid back and the focus was on the children participating in the show. You could feel their excitement from the runway - the energy was perfect.
Thank you once again to Haddad Brands for having me.
**If you would like to follow Leah's progress in her treatment, her parents regularly post to Instagram. You may have heard about Leah's story when the Bengals kept her Dad Devon Still on the team after learning about her cancer diagnoses so he would keep his health insurance to cover Leah's medical costs. You can follow her via #prayforLeah or on her fathers Instagram . donate to the fund they have setup for other children battling pediatric cancer.
