I shot these images a few years ago when the fireworks were still on the West Side of Manhattan. Looking at these bring back some great memories. We enjoyed the Macy's Fourth of July fireworks with a few friends, my in-laws and nephew that day.
This year we will be bouncing around to a backyard BBQ and then to friends on the Lower East Side. I still haven't figured out what I'm going to make or bring. As of right now chocolate chip cookies are a possibility, only because I already have all the ingredients.
I thought I would do a quick post for those who didn't think they would be in the city, or need last minute fourth of July plans.
If you plan on watching the firework display in NYC or Brooklyn here is an interactive map of where to see the show. If you feel like boozing and hitting up a rooftop party bar crawl head over here . If you want to watch the 4th of July fireworks from the street or just want to avoid traffic - here's a list of the street closures.
Too cool for school? Here are some other activities around the city. Coney Island is having their Annual Beach Party on Saturday. Soak up some sun or watch the annual hot dog eating contest. NiteHawk Cinemas in Brooklyn is screening jaws and serving Brunch. If you're an 80's baby IFC Center is screening RoboCop. Dassara in Brooklyn is having a pig roast on Saturday. Head over to Mister Sunday to dance off all the booze and icecream before we have to go back to work.
If none of the above interests you there's always these shows to binge watch - TV marathon. Or you can participate in America's other favorite past time - shopping. Tons of sales happening online: Forever 21 is having 30% off all sale items, Lord & Taylor is having 75% off clearance items, Ann Taylor is having 50% off clearance and Bloomingdales is having an up to 65% off sale.
Happy Fourth kiddos!! - xo Dee
