A few weeks ago I read The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing and I started to purge a lot of items we haven't used in a while. The idea behind the book is that any items in your home that do not bring "joy" shouldn't be in our homes. There is more to it than that, but I have never been good at book reports. The link above will take you to the Amazon reviews though if you're interested. I started with my clothes which was the biggest task for me and moved onto "papers" last week. During my clothing purge I got rid of 8 bags of clothing items. I ended up sending some of the designer items to Thredup.Com and donating the rest.
I didn't want to take up what little of summer was left cleaning so over the next few weeks I will tackle some of the other items in the apartment. In anticipation I know I want to update our bathroom accessories and possibly some of our kitchen items. I have been pinning some inspiration ideas. I love the vintage cake stands & desk lamp. The "EAT" sign would make a nice addition to one of our kitchen walls and our drinking glasses have gone from six to three thanks to my clumsy hands..I have my eye on these.
While searching around for some new bathroom items I came across a bathroom waste basket that costs over $1,500 and a tissue box cover thats almost $900. I think I'll pass on both for now and plan a nice vacation ;)
